Philanthropy is changing. In addition to the $400 billion Americans give to nonprofits each year, more and more people are embracing new ways to create social impact. Many of these trends were explored on the blog Tactical Philanthropy, authored by Sean Stannard-Stockton, where he described what he, and later the New York Times, termed The Second Great Wave of Philanthropy. From 2006 to 2012, the Tactical Philanthropy blog played host to a rollicking public debate about effective philanthropy and new forms of social impact. With the help of esteemed panelists, including Jessamyn Shams-Lau, co-author of Unicorns Unite: How nonprofits and foundations can build EPIC partnerships, this event will dive back into many of these topics and explore how philanthropy is continuing to evolve.
